Keep sharing, Dave. I really appreciate the thought you put into all of your analyses and communications. Whether I agree with you on an issue or not, I find you to be thoughtful, intelligent, perceptive, and sincere. Those qualities are rare these days! And your wordsmithing here is as elegant as your lyrics. 😉
Okay I just listened to this on YouTube didn't know you were on substack but I subscribed. I used to enjoy listening to both of you guys two different point of views but that's okay it was good to hear.
I really don't like either party at this point in time. The ‘RATS as I call them have a horrendous history going back to 1829. And guess what? very little has changed with them. They were intimidating voters in 1830 but have become more sophisticated with time and how they cheat in elections now. Yes that's right, that's my opinion and history proves it. 2020 was a mess and an eye-opener at the same time. To me, mail in ballots were the villain and those stuffing them into ballot boxes. Somehow as a nation we survived the four-years of government by committee led by an empty suit who was a laughing stock around the world representing us. Trump is not perfect, no one is. But this country is closer to what I envision it to be than at any other time in my lifetime. Any political party who's ulterior goal is the destruction of our Republic gets no support from me. The last 4 years made that very clear.
Well Dave, I don't agree with some of the things you wrote, but I do appreciate your questioning of your own present values. As Socrates said: "The unexamined life is not worth living".
One thing I would suggest is reading up on the "The Pareto rule, or 80/20 rule" It's a rule that governs all life. It basically is the ratio as my brother labeled as "Shepard and Sheep". or as Warren Buffet stated "If you gave everyone on an island the same amount of money, in time 20% would end up with 80% of the wealth." or if you look at who pays most of the taxes in the USA, 20% pay
80% of the taxes. In other words 20% of the people think differently than the other 80%. Which category do you see yourself in?
Nice to see you back. I don't always agree with you. I do like to hear your perspective as it helps to clarify things.
I did not take the vax and.politics did not enter into my reason. I am the type.of person that if someone is.pushing and rushing me to do something out of the.ordinary, I hit pause and wait button to see what is really going on. I also had already survived COVID in early 2020, so to take.a vax seemed counter intuitive.
Hi Dave-I have wondered what happened to you, as I did follow you in the earlier days and enjoyed the content as admittedly, it supported my confirmation biases. It’s great to see you back.
The question that this video raises in my mind is about this statement: “As the vaccination process stalled, it was clear to me that beer-gut sixty-something MAGA dudes were dying at a rate ten to twenty TIMES greater than they would if they’d just taken the shots.” I understand your purpose for citing this example in your video, but without getting into a discussion about the veracity of the mRNA “VAX“, and all of the unknowns surrounding this event, I’m wondering if you have actual data to support that claim. The data that I’ve been able to find related to Covid deaths and, also importantly vaccination deaths, does not support it at all. And on a personal level the most of the people that I know that died at that time were not part of that demographic, shot or no shot. anyway,
best regards-
oh! Just to let you know, I am part of that demographic, lol, and I don’t do vaccines or mRNA gene therapies… 😉
Nearly 3K views on YT and a quarter million subscribers. Happy to have you back there, Dave. I’ve encourage you to reconsider your disparagement of Trump & MAGA in the comments of these Substack articles. You cited one of my comments, and even suggested a correction to my word choice, lol! I’ve encouraged you to check out the TED talk by Jonathan Haidt on the moral roots of liberals and conservatives, because your self assessment of being “post partisan” seems slightly off to me. I’m certainly biased to the right, but I can listen to other opinions without argument. Maybe what I’m reacting to is your wide MAGA brush. Folks these days that hate Trump use MAGA as an epithet. To characterize all Trump supporters as having the characteristics of the worst. perhaps I’m doing what portions of the right did when HRC labeled a portion (she was clear about it being a portion) of those on the right being in “a basket of deplorables.” Which many soon took as a moniker of unity.
You come very close to Haidt’s TED talk point in this article. “Morality binds and blinds. It binds us into ideological teams that fight each other as though the fate of the world depended on our side winning each battle. It blinds us to the fact that each team is composed of good people who have something important to say.”
I appreciate your content, your effort to create it and your courage to share it.
On a non-politicized topic (are there any?), I especially enjoyed your much earlier article on the Honda CB750 four. I owned one for a brief time. I just picked up a 74 Vette and wonder what you’d have to say about that. I’ve wanted a 74-77 since I was a teen. Nice to be in a financial place to pick one up.
This is perfect, Dave.

I'm still with you although I still have my own unique thoughts. All I ask is that we have a calm and decent dialog. Thanks.

Thanks. You speak for many. If you’re ever in Walla Walla, I’d love to buy you a beer.
