I'm so happy for you, Dave. You've been through a harrowing experience, as have many, but thankfully yours has resolved well. I'd tell you not to feel guilty for your good-fortune, but that's a decision only you can make. Anyway, being the kind of guy you are, I'm sure you will come up with an idea or two to ease the burden for some who are still awaiting their good fortune...maybe with a music gathering, maybe with a helping hand.

So glad how this turned out for you, Dave. HEy, you put your heart on your sleeve, your mind in the uppermost branches, and you lay it all out to us with soulful and sometimes jaunty music. You have bottled all this that many of us cannot say but need to, for many years. We've drunk your life-potion, gladly, eagerly. You must understand how you have reached others. Well, buddy, this is your payback, don'tcha know! So awesome, so well deserved, my friend.

Thanks for the update! I spent a few yrs of my childhood at the Mt Lowe Military Academy on the corner of Lincoln and W Palm in Altadena, which was converted to a community garden. A few seconds ago a former classmate sent me a pic that the stone pillars at the entrance of the park STILL STAND along with the plaque commemorating the Academy, which closed in 1973. Someday I will go back to Altadena to confront my demons for being confined in that terrible place.

Congratulations on the find and a return to equilibrium. An incidental lesson in your story is a strong recommendation for being insured to the teeth.

Holding onto this, Dave. And thank you.

Cool beans for you! Nice looking rig. Going forward, after you adjust to new quarters, don't feel compelled to "entertain" us, just write when you feel the urge to have a discussion with us. Thanks Dave, stay well.

Hey Dave, I grew up and Santa Monica, but left in 1972. What’s weird to me is that most of the houses that are burned down were built after I left, At least the houses in Malibu and Pacific Palisades. When you think about it, it’s a tradition in California to tear everything down every 20 years. So the fires are just doing what humans have been doing forever. And the fact that the government isn’t doing anything to help, and that the mayor and the fire chief are blaming everybody else, that’s pretty much politics as usual. I’ve been a Democrat for over 40 years, and nothing changes. But love your music. Only if you get a chance, listen to a young folk singer, his name is Jesse Welles.

Dave, you might think this is strange, but I often wrote comments in your YouTube channel opposing your viewpoints to the point that I think you blocked me. After coming here and reading many of your posts, I have come to understand that you were then a product of your surroundings online. I'm going to be 58 this year and your attitudes are not much different than mine, or at least this more temperate version of you.

All of the above is aside from the reason I am posting here for the first time. I am genuinely happy that you have reestablished a home as quickly as you have. Your description of the feeling of displacement were heartfelt and created imagery that were palpable for me ad the reader. In the words of Spock, "Live long and prosper."

Glad to hear things are coming back together for you, I know there are many still dealing with uncertainty for the future. Many communities nearby to us here in western NC are in the same situation, some towns are completely gone. We were spared by virtue of building on a ridgetop and only had to deal with minor inconvenience for a few weeks. Blessings in your new abode.

Good news is particularly precious in a time when, as my grandmother always said, there are bad winds blowing. You have been given a wonderful foundation for the next steps, always a pay it forward opportunity -- and I have no doubt that you will. Every blessing.
