Hey Everybody,
As promised, I have shifted my focus back to YouTube videos. Here is the first one, posted Sunday, 9/31/25. As of this writing. it has just reached 11,000 views, and the comments - as expected - are turning a bit more hostile.
But most are warm and welcoming, if not in complete agreement. I can’t ask for more than that.
It occurred to me that I could use this Substack location to improve the overall experience for myself and for you.
Why not use THIS space for real good-faith discussion? The comments section on YouTube is not set up for that. But this platform is.
So here is the video linked, and a transcript for easy quoting.
Unlike on YouTube, if somebody gives a response to a comment you’ve left here, you will be notified automatically by email. You may then reinforce your point with a counter-response. Or change your mind. Hey, it could happen.
I myself will not respond to all comments, but I will try to read them all and respond where I think it would be helpful. And because this will be a more manageable community, I imagine that I’ll engage pretty often.
The comments here will be for PAID SUBSCRIBERS ONLY. $5 a month.
Hopefully this slight barrier will keep the trolls away.
Thanks for reading, Dave

Here’s the Transcript:
Hey Everybody, my name is Dave Morrison. Some of you know me from this channel. Some from my long-term connection to the Los Angeles music scene.
And some from the Substack where I've been trying to work out how I feel about the state of this country, and what we can do about it.
Blue Collar Logic - this channel - began as a reaction to cancel culture. This was 2017 and a LOT of people's careers ended based on nothing but an accusation.
I was a lifelong Democrat! A house painter by day, but also a singer-songwriter of some note.
Jason, my partner here, played in a Reggae band, and a rock band.
He was making his living as a sound engineer in his home studio.
We weren't exactly rednecks
But Los Angeles was going through a phase. And the 2016 election flipped it into overdrive.
Identity politics had gone crazy. Everybody wanted to be an activist and save their favorite downtrodden group
from oppressors who were supposedly lurking everywhere.
Jason and I thought it was all way over the top. And we started saying so.
We got to know each other on Facebook threads, where it was the two of us against the whole musical scene.
All of this, during the final days of what EVERYBODY assumed would be Hillary Clinton's successful campaign.
Not even Trump thought he'd win.
But he did, and that set off the moral panic known as cancel culture.
Humans DO this in confusing times.
We reach out for belonging and purpose. If we find that in a political party, we then ATTACK the other party.
That makes us feel relevant.
And logic and common sense, sometimes go out the window.
When Jason and I finally met up in person we talked for hours.
Next thing I know he's made a green-screen studio in his garage, and we were starting a Facebook video channel.
We'd both spent a lot of time working in the trades, so we came up with the name Blue Collar Logic, and started posting short punchy videos.
The name was supposed to convey the no-BS git 'er done attitude that rules the day on job-sites where -
when a problem comes up -
everybody cooperates to find the SOLUTION and get back to work.
Nobody CARES whose idea it was.
This was our ethos, if we had one. We saw ourselves as pragmatists adrift in a sea of idealists.
Before we knew it we had a ton of followers on Facebook, some viral videos, and a lot of people telling us how smart we were.
There was no money in it. We were just having fun, and enjoying the low-level fame that came along with 80,000 viewers.
Some weird shit happened with Facebook. So we moved to YouTube.
I wrote a piece about Immigration. It blew up, and put us on the map.
Now we had a lot MORE people telling us how smart we were.
The rest is a story that thousands of YouTubers could tell just as well.
About the struggle to make 'content', while discovering how intoxicating it can be ...
to go from anonymity, to getting recognized in public by strangers.
Guy driving by in a truck, rolls down the window "Hey! Blue Collar Logic! Love you guys!"
That happened a LOT.
It was kind of like having a hit single must have been back in the days of Sun Records.
And eventually money started coming in too. More than I'd EVER made climbing ladders.
So we ran with it for the span of Trump's first term,
producing SOME really good work,
and some that is pretty cringeworthy in retrospect.
But we tried to be common-sensical and well ... logical. We never posted anything we knew to be false.
And until Covid and George Floyd and the complete breakdown of civilization,
everything was copacetic.
If you don't mind being called a racist by a musician trying to look heroic.
But a year in ... conspiracy buffs began to invade our viewership.
In mid 2018, I started seeing this comment.
ususus ...
the fuck does THAT mean?
and then ... Q.
No comment. Just that one letter.
After that I noticed that whenever I called Trump "a flawed messenger" I caught blowback.
"He's not flawed! He's perfect!"
Are we talking about the same Donald Trump?
What had previously been a shared assumption, on BCL,
that he was a jerk, but he was OUR jerk ...
Now that was treated as heresy.
It was unbelievably sad to see our viewership polluted with the same degree of group-think that we'd been seeing in the Democratic party.
I stood against the twin movements of Stop-The-Steal, and Stop-The-Vax, and my income flat-lined.
To his great credit, Jason never tried to stop me ... as I basically burned the channel down pushing back against the new MAGAs.
We parted company.
Jason started his own channel, moved to Idaho,
and serviced the Trump-addled masses as best he could.
I made videos sporadically to an ever angrier and more hostile audience.
Until I just got tired of being called a traitor and left YouTube. I made a few videos here and there,
This one was particularly precient. (Elon's Folly)
but my heart just wasn't in it.
But now, I see an opportunity. Not to make money or be famous. I don't care about those things.
I see an opportunity to be genuinely helpful.
We've all watched American politics dissolve into chronic warfare. But we haven't all reacted the same way.
Some of you might still be wearing the war paint. Ready to leave a nasty comment below, and go find some red-meat to rub on your chest.
If that's you, I invite you to leave this channel now.
Unsubscribe. Block me. It's fine.
You won't be happy here. So go now, and forget all about Blue Collar Logic. It's not for you.
But for the rest of us, I have good news.
Thinking people all over the country are realizing what I've been shouting from the rooftops since before I left this channel.
PARTISAN THINKING is the bad guy. It's as bad as our founders feared it would be. It's going to sink us if we don't outgrow it.
Honest liberals have spent a lot of time reflecting.
They know that their party lost the plot.
They know - and admit - that they got so caught up in Identity politics that they simply forgot about the kitchen table issues.
They FORGOT that they were the party of the working class.
These open-minded liberals are not only willing, but EAGER to converse with open-minded conservatives.
They get it. They understand that ideological bubbles are antithetical to good policy.
Moderate conservatives in the mold of David Brooks, Jonah Goldberg,
Bill Kristal, Mona Charen?
They've been doing this for years.
These people are not only welcomed by The Left,
They're revered.
This is the list of Mona Charen's four books:
Useful Idiots: How Liberals Got it Wrong in the Cold War and Still Blame America First (2003),
Do-Gooders: How Liberals Hurt Those They Claim to Help (and the Rest of Us) (2005),
Sex Matters: How Modern Feminism Lost Touch with Science, Love, and Common Sense (2018) ... and
Hard Right: The GOP's Drift Toward Extremism (2023).
If you're familiar with my work here, you know that these titles - at least the last three - are perfectly aligned with my own views.
Mona Charen is invited onto left-leaning podcasts all the time.
She has a regular show on The Bulwark for God's sake.
Conservatives who aren't MAGA, are now heroic figures left of center.
Do you see what I mean by an opportunity?
Listen, I defended Donald Trump when he represented the kind of thinking that we based this channel on.
I fully understand that many of you were disgusted by the open hatred toward him before he'd had any chance AT ALL to govern. Remember HRC's concession speech?
Yeah ... that didn't happen even for a minute.
Many or most of you saw the Democrats' years-long attempt to oust him as a bloodless coup.
I completely GET .... that when you defend a person, you grow to care about them. Even love them.
Gross as he could be, Trump WAS an underdog,
being unfairly attacked.
I remember thinking to myself how odd it was that this world-famous billionaire had triggered in ME a desire to protect HIM.
Shielding ANYONE against unfair attacks was and IS an admirable human instinct.
But I ask you to understand that this protective feeling we had toward him,
is no basis for the sort of permanent support that many - or even most - conservatives have turned themselves over to.
What Trump is doing now is NOT conservative. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Our elected leaders are empowered to do OUR will. Not the other way around.
It was NEVER the intention of this YouTube channel to latch on to one man's coat-tails and simply defend everything that he says and does.
That's the OPPOSITE of Blue Collar Logic.
Every national politician swears an oath to defend the constitution.
We should HOLD them to that oath. That's OUR responsibility.
As citizens.
Donald Trump is VANDALIZING our governing institutions.
I never signed up for that sort of thing.
Am I making sense?
I hope that you will stay subscribed here, if you ARE subscribed, and hit that button if you aren't.
I'll be covering a wide range of topics, about which conservatives and liberals seem incapable of agreement.
Hoping that I can help moderates on both sides to reach hybrid solutions.
I'll be doing that from the Post Partisan Perspective that I'm so convinced is the path forward.
Thanks for listening.
Again ... I'm Dave Morrison, and this is Blue Collar Logic.
