Abortion is the perfect example of BOTH sides being unreasonable. Everybody should have been cool with the 1st trimester guideline. But for religious reasons the right was becoming very activist, and that caused the Demos to push it beyond all reason. We can't make law based on religion. And we can't have NO law that protects a baby at the age of viability. It's solved now, because it's back at the states where it belongs. Thanks for the comment, Joe.
I wonder how we could get the media to pay more attention to this bloc of independents. The silent majority got enormous media attention in the early '70s. Now, we have many more tools to garner and feature individual interviews and perspectives.
Doesn’t the legacy media have their candidate that they want the independents to support? I see independent media sources featuring many different perspectives. PBD will interview just about anyone.
One would assume that the legacy media endorses Biden. But, man Nate. They are getting really nervous. Biden is polling so weak across voters who broke strong for him in 2020. If polls are correct, the only thing that can save them from Trump winning is a huge turnout from the Indies. The lean-lefts are bigger in number than the lean-rights, so that favors Biden. And also, I think the lean-rights are not Trump enthusiasts. Still, Trump's way out ahead and Biden's got a lot of baggage.
I don't think that media as a whole wants to offer solutions. Trump vs Biden is what they want. Trump is such a good story. Now the press is fighting to get his trials televised, which plays right into his hands as he tries to further delegitimize the institutions.
There is the wisdom of learned men and deep thinkers, and it's a valuable thing. But there is also the wisdom of a man who's spent years banging his head on brick walls, and figured out they're hard, and don't give way much. Wisdom that's been learned at great cost from life, rather than from books read in comfortable rooms, is both profound and useable in a way that scholarly tomes and sophisticated analysis will never be.
I hope Dave understands how much his voice has been missed these past months, and the difference he's made. His 'collected works' have become an important contribution to the civic dialog and it's great to have him back.

Thank you David. I sure appreciate the kind words. And I look forward to our dialogue over the coming years. Merry Christmas!
